Teeth Whitening

When you want to look your best, few things make as big a statement as a beautiful, white smile. When you need to brighten your smile, Dr. Todd Goldstein is here to help you!

Did you know teeth are porous? This means they are full of tiny, microscopic holes known as pores that are able to absorb or soak up substances in a similar way that a sponge soaks up water. If we aren’t careful about avoiding certain foods and habits, our teeth can become deeply stained.

Your teeth also become stained naturally with age. You can fight both the staining effects of what you eat and the staining that comes with age through teeth whitening treatments with Dr. Todd Goldstein.

What Types of Foods Stain Teeth?

The foods we eat and the beverages we drink affect the color of our teeth. Some foods and drinks are naturally more staining than others, including:

  • Wine.
  • Coffee.
  • Berries.
  • Sodas.
  • Fruit Juices.
  • Curry.
  • Balsamic Vinegar.
  • Tea.
  • Soy Sauce.
  • Tomato-Based Sauces.

Smoking will also deeply stain your teeth. Avoiding these foods or habits in large doses will do wonders to help brighten the appearance of your teeth—and for the rest, Dr. Goldstein has professional whitening treatments for you here in the Manhattan area.

Teeth Whitening With Dr. Todd Goldstein

There are many different ways to whiten teeth. Dr. Goldstein uses ZOOM!® Teeth Whitening treatments to give his patients results that are fast-acting and long-lasting.

He offers two options: Zoom in-office whitening or Zoom take-home whitening kits. The in-office treatment will require a set appointment and about an hour of your time. In that single appointment Dr. Goldstein can brighten your teeth up to eight shades whiter!

Take-home kits offer a more convenient way to whiten your teeth on your own time. Results with the take-home kit will happen more gradually, but they will be just as astonishing as Dr. Goldstein’s in-office treatment.

How Does Teeth Whitening Work?

ZOOM!® Teeth Whitening uses a whitening agent that can penetrate below the enamel surface of your teeth and get down into the areas where the stained molecules are. Once this whitening gel has been applied to your teeth, Dr. Goldstein—or you, if you choose the take-home option—will activate it with an LED light.

This reaction results in the bonds between the discolored molecules breaking, giving you an overall effect of whiter teeth and a brighter smile.
